About BidCount and how it works out its numbers
BidCount lists open UK public sector tenders, planned tenders and contracts that are about to end, and shows for each buyer how many bids its earlier open tenders usually drew. It is free to use, needs no sign-up, and is run by OKII Ltd (registered in England and Wales, company number 15616035, 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE; contact details are in the privacy notice).
Where does the data come from?
From the government's Find a Tender service (including its open data files) and Contracts Finder, under the Open Government Licence v3.0. We refresh it once a day. The date each page was last updated is printed on the page. Notices that appear only on Public Contracts Scotland, Sell2Wales or a buyer's own portal are not yet included.
How is the bid count worked out?
For each buyer we take the number of bids received on its earlier open tenders that were awarded on Find a Tender in 2025 and 2026, using one figure per procurement (the median across its lots). If that median is 4 or fewer we say "few bidders", 8 or more "crowded", and anything between "typical". With fewer than three earlier tenders we say "not enough history" and give no rating.
This describes the buyer's history. It is not a forecast for any one tender, and we do not publish a chance of winning.
What are "contracts ending"?
Contracts from award notices worth at least £50,000 with a term of 12 to 120 months, whose scheduled end date falls in the next 12 months. Dates come from the award notice. Contracts are often extended or re-tendered early or late, so treat the date as a prompt to look, not a promise.
What do we leave out?
We do not publish names, emails or phone numbers of individuals. A supplier is named only when its name looks like an organisation. Framework ceilings are not shown as prices.
